Adagio, built by the Gougeon Brothers in 1970, finished first in class at the 2024 Bayview Mackinaw Race. This year marked the 100th consecutive start for this historic event, leading to heightened anticipation and increased participation.

This year’s Team Adagio, which consisted of GBI President & CEO Alan Gurski, long-time WEST SYSTEM® Tribe member Matt Scharl, and experienced multihull sailor Mark Zaranski, brought a wealth of experience. Collectively, they have participated in 104 Mackinaw races: Alan with 13, Mark with 35, and Matt with 56.

Adagio, the first large, all epoxy-bonded and sealed wooden boat built without fasteners, has been a formidable contender in the Mackinaw races since her launch. This year’s win marks her 9th first-place finish, proving that fully bonded monocoque structures can last for generations.

What makes WEST SYSTEM Epoxy the best on the market? The list of reasons is extensive, but let’s add one more: our 54-year-old trimaran, Adagio, finishing first at this year’s Bayview Mackinaw Race.

We congratulate Alan, Matt, and Mark on another successful race for Team Adagio.
